My Next Project

This is a window I saved from the garbage. My daughter was installing new windows in her home and she saved this for me.
The home she lives in was her grandmothers house.
So this window came from a house I lived in 35 years ago.
Just a little about the windows past.
I plan to sand it a little and paint it, then add photos
to the panes. If you have any other ideas, I would be willing
to consider doing something else with it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

SHOW & TELL FRIDAY

I did my first swap on Sweet Goodness Swaps.
We were to send gifts to our swap partner in Orange and Yellow.
This is my container. We were to think of something unusual.
Mine was a Hot Air Ballon. I used a wicker basket to hold the gifts
and wire to suppend a soccer ball on the top. The ball was then covered
in orange tissue paper to hide the ball. I thought this was unusal. If I ever
did a Hot Air Ballon again. I would make some changes. I would probably
do paperMache for the ballon part.

Sweet Goodness Swap

I received my gift package on Tuesday.
What a great surprised awaited me in the basket
First the basket was nice in it's self and that would
have been plenty, but there was so much more.
All these precious items are from Christina @ This Girl Beads

A lovely plate, right up my alley. Along with that, cookies to serve on it.

I received lovely handmade note cards. Love those!!

Next was a silver fork with the tins bent to hold a recipe card and even a recipe with it.

I leave the best for last. A very special ring basket that was handmade by
my partner. I know that took time and talent to make. I really love it!!!

If you have not participated in Sweet Goodness Swaps, you may want to
consider it the next time one comes around.

Whats for Dinner

Here is what we had for dinner one night last week.
It turned out very good. It is my adaptation of
another recipe Shrimp and Pasta recipe.
I took out a few items and then add some things I like.

Give it a try when you need something fast and easy
Great enough for company.
Serve with a salad, hot bread and maybe a slice of cheesecake afterwards

INGREDIENTS
8 ounces dry fettuccine pasta
3 cloves garlic
1/2 sweet onion, sliced
1 Head of Broccoli floretts
4 tablespoons olive oil
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound uncooked shrimp - peeled and deveined

DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the pasta, and cook for 8 minutes, or until tender. Drain.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat combine the garlic & onion and saute. Add broccoli, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 3-5 minutes while the pasta is cooking, stirring occasionally. Remove from skillet.
Stir fry shrimp in the same skillet with a small amount of olive oil. Cook until shrimp are pink. Add veggies on top of shrimp. Top with fresh basil strips.
Cook an additional 3-5 minutes. You may want to add soy sauce to your taste.
Toss with pasta in a large serving bowl.
OPTIONAL : mix in 8 oz. of shredded mozzarella cheese.
If using soy sauce I would suggest not using the mozzarella cheese.

MMMGood!

For my Show and Tell today, I would like to introduce you to my little pup Chloe.
She is Beagle thru and thru, if you know what I mean. She is always putting that
little nose of her where it does not belong.

My DH and I adopted Chloe last summer. I found her on Petfinder. com. She
has brought much laughter and life into our "Empty Nest" Home. I did not know
how much I missed all the action (without kids) until I got Chloe.

She is a great little girl.
My grandkids really like her and enjoy her also.
So now you have met a member of my family.

Have a Great Weekend.

Lavender Fields Forever.........
oh No That was Strawberry Fields.....

On Thursday I woke up to the most wonderful day here on LI
The humidity was gone, sun was shinning and a gentle breeze was blowing.
I got up, had a quick up of Java and headed of the East End of LI with a friend.

It was a great day to enjoy the Gift God had sent our way.
Here are a few of the places we stopped at.

Lavender Fields

These are the lavender fields that I visited on Thursday.
They are located at the Eastern End on Long Island , NY

It was absolutely beautiful. Oh and the fragrance.........my car still smells sweet.

Did I buy some?

What do you think?

But of course, I could not pass this up.

I picked up several bundles of lavender for making Lavender Wands.
I will post them when they are completed.

Here is the lady wrapping up my lavender.

Next we were back on the road enjoying the drive with no traffic. Things on Eastern LI all change on Friday.
Locals stay away due to the traffic. We stopped at one of the many local farm stands to buy fresh corn for dinner

Oh my gosh, everything looked so good. Look at the dried statis flowers. They were gorgeous

Then we were off to a little town called Greenport. We treated ourselves to a Lobster Lunch.
Here is the view from our table. Can you just feel the peace.
And lunch was mmmm good at Claudios Clam Bar

Then we were off to more shopping.
Found this cute little shop.
Bought something here for my Summer Fun Swap.

Oh no, you can't see it yet. That would spoil the fun!

It was a very rewarding day. Looking forward to returning again very soon.
Next trip I will be focusing on all the thrift shops and antique stores.
Hope you all have a blessed weekend. Stay cool and safe.

What a Find.
Went to several yard sales today and look what called out to me. This is a wrought iron twin headboard. I just love it. You will never believe that it only cost me $8.00. Not sure where it will find a place to rest, but for now it is in my garden. Also found a Mahogany desk that I am picking up tomorrow.
Thanks Laura for all my treasures.
I have been busy with my Summer Sweet Goodness Swap. Oh no, you can not see a thing yet. Will post later, after my treasures have been mailed to my friend.
Can't wait to see what all of you received.
